Reviewer Comments: Messengers from God come in all shapes, sizes and forms.

Gabrielle Cody is a paladin, God‘s enforcer on earth. She has a varying number of skills and expertise which come to the fore when she needs them. She has some insight into events through her comics. Gaby has been able to make some friends with people on earth and these are people who need help for whatever reason. Gaby is odd in this world and she learns of new things each day. She slowly takes on technology but her favorite is the digital music player. Gaby does not take well to restrictions and limitations placed on her especially when she makes a promise. She needs to do her own thing. Gaby does work within her guidelines to achieve the results.

Luther Cross is a cop. He is not sure why he is attracted to Gaby but he wants her forever more. Luther admits to himself that he wants to tame Gaby but he often has difficulty stepping back but does so as he learns more about Gaby. He has difficulty at times restraining himself regarding Gaby and playing the alpha male as, who can play the alpha male when his woman is more powerful than he is. The thing he likes most about Gaby is her need to take the edge off when she isn’t able to follow through to the end with the bad people. Luther is not sure where he stands with Gaby but each day brings her closer to him.

In some respects I as a little surprised, but pleasantly so, about the action and the character of Gaby. Gaby shows very little emotion but whatever she has is really well hidden and the reader will see this when she does those little things like taking the two little girls home. Making sure she has the cell phone even though she thinks it will get in her way a people will constant call her to talk. There is a one incident where Gaby is dealing with two drug dealers when she has to have a conversation with Luther and make some promises to him.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this story. I have the first two stories sitting in my TBR pile and now having read this one, I must read the first two. Firstly, I liked that I didn’t need to read the first two to understand the characters or the world in which they live. Secondly, I do want to read how the world was set up and hopefully it will be clear on some things such as why Gaby does not have the understanding of many things in this world even though she was in foster homes. And thirdly, I want to see the development of the relationship between Gaby and Luther as I am intrigued as to how they got together.

This is a series to be enjoyed and devoured.
