    Review for On the Prowl
Author: Patricia Briggs ,Patricia Briggs Karen Chance Sunny Eileen Wilks

Reviewer Comments: On the Prowl is an anthology written by four of the hottest authors today. Patricia Briggs writes the tale of were-wolf Anna, a young woman at the bottom of the pack totem pole. She has been beaten down but after reading about a murder and missing teen in the newspaper decides to call the Marrok. The Marrok is the head of all were-wolves in North America and he in turn sends his son Charles, the enforcer, to investigate.

Charles is surprised to find out that the beaten down were-wolf who called to report a problem to his father, is an Omega. She is a special wolf who he feels drawn to and his inner wolf pants to make his own.

In Eileen Wilks' Inhuman, a new couple is introduced. Kat can sense people’s thoughts but only one other individual knows what she can do. That man is Nathan and a local detective. Nathan has his own secret, he’s not human. A killer is loose, though, a killer who is drinking the blood of magical people.

Karen Chance takes her readers on a ride to faire land in Buying Trouble. Claire is a mage who works for a New York auction house. While working she meets a Lord of the Fey who has come to bid on a rune. Unfortunately, Claire finds her unscrupulous boss is putting her up for sale. A series of events occur ending with the two being sent to Faire land. The anthology is wrapped up by Sunny. In a short story picking up where her Mona Lisa Blossoming ends, she follows Mona Lisa to court to explain to the other Queens what happened to her rival Mona Louisa.

Briggs and Sunny offer short stories that their fans will be quick to recognize. The stories are based off of other books in print. Both can stand alone but are better if you’ve read the preceding tales. As I read Briggs'Alpha and Omega I found myself wanting it to go on forever. I loved the characters and the story was inviting. Karen Chance had me howling with laughter as Claire’s personality began to come out in the land of the fey.

Of the four stories I liked Wilks' Imortal the least because there were many story lines introduced and discarded without ever being followed. I also had a hard time with Nathan’s background. He is a creature from a different plane and not a ‘real’ man. He assumed the body of a man for a mission and over years of possessing a human male body adapted to the way a man thinks.

I think it's important to point out that the sensuality rating is high based upon one story. Sunny writes highly erotic stories and her short in this anthology is not different. The other three stories in the anthology rate much lower on the sensuality scale.
